CaptionAddr is an iPhone and iPad app for selecting a video from Photos, transcribing speech locally with bundled Whisper Small English resources, editing caption words and timing, styling the overlay, and saving a burned-in captioned movie file.

No. Transcription runs on your device. Your source video, extracted audio, generated captions, edits, and exports are not uploaded to Dynsell LLC or Firebase for transcription. Apple and Firebase services are still used for App Store purchases, entitlement sync, App Check, content-free aggregate activation counters, and diagnostics.

CaptionAddr uses Whisper Small English locally and bundles the model resources in the app. This makes the initial app download larger, but it avoids a separate model setup download and keeps transcription on your device.

For longer exports, CaptionAddr can ask iOS for notification permission so it can show an export-complete notification if you leave the app. CaptionAddr does not use Firebase Cloud Messaging or marketing push notifications.

Free supports local transcription, word editing, caption styling, optional watermarking, and burned-in movie export for videos up to 2 minutes. CaptionAddr Pro Monthly extends the import and export limit to 30 minutes. The US StoreKit configuration is $6.99 per month with a 3-day introductory offer for eligible new subscribers; the App Store shows final local pricing before purchase.

Not in the current app flow. CaptionAddr currently saves a movie with captions burned into the video so the captions remain visible anywhere the video is shared.

CaptionAddr asks iOS for add-only Photos access when you save the finished captioned movie. Exported videos saved to Photos are managed by the Photos app and must be deleted there.

Open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, then choose CaptionAddr. You can also manage subscriptions at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid renewal.

Open CaptionAddr settings and choose Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple ID used for the original subscription.

CaptionAddr requires iOS or iPadOS 17.0 or later and an iPhone or iPad with A12 Bionic, A12X Bionic, A12Z Bionic, or newer Apple silicon.

This includes iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone 11, iPhone SE (2nd generation), newer iPhone models, iPad mini (5th generation), iPad (8th generation), iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation), and newer iPad models. Older iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices are not supported.

On-device speech recognition can be affected by background noise, music, accents, overlapping voices, microphone quality, and fast speech. Review and edit captions before export.

Apple handles App Store refunds. Use reportaproblem.apple.com or Apple Support. Dynsell LLC cannot issue App Store refunds directly.

Your media and current project data are stored locally on your device. Reset the current project in the app or uninstall CaptionAddr to remove app-stored local project data; delete exported videos from Photos separately. For deletion of information reasonably associated with support, diagnostics, or subscription services, email CaptionAddr@gmail.com.
